Dr. Courtney Mauldin
Courtney Mauldin works at the intersections of community, culture, art and K-12 education with a passion for designing and facilitating inquiry-based experiences that engender meaning making and fuel social change.
Currently, Dr. Mauldin is an Assistant Professor of Teaching & Leadership at Syracuse University where her scholarly research focuses on amplifying the voices and leadership practices of youth/girls of color with particular attention to how youth perspectives are central to reimagining and transforming K-12 leadership, schools, and communities.
She is the co-founder and lead facilitator of The Breedlove Readers, a Young Adult (YA) book club and literacy initiative based in Central New York for middle and high school aged Black girls. Her love for literacy, the arts, and ensuring our youth have whole and humanizing experiences in schools and society guides her pedagogy and community embedded praxis.
Committed to always being a learner, Courtney completed the Museum Education Practicum with the Studio Museum in Harlem in Spring 2022 which provides a transformative educational experience for cultural practitioners.
In her dream time, Courtney can be found exploring bookstores, sharing stories and laughs with loved ones, and enjoying a medium roast coffee. ☕️
